I started dying my hair at age 19. You see, it’s not because I necessarily wanted to. It was because I needed to. My first adventure in hair dye was when I turned 16. I was at my dad’s for the weekend and decided that I wanted to try something new. My dad being the carefree parent that he was, took me to Wal-Mart where I proceeded to select a temporary hair color that was way too red (thank gosh it was temporary). Needless to say, when my dad dropped my siblings and I off, my mom was not happy. After my hair went back to normal, I was scared to dye my hair for fear of the previously unflattering results.
I am so pumped to announce that I am now a merchandiser for the Chloe + Isabel jewelry line! Their pieces are an amazing quality and versatile. The company styling comes from the concept of two best friends that are complete opposites. Chloe is the trendsetting, fearless woman who is all about edgy pieces. Isabel is the more refined, classically styled friend who loves timeless pieces. I think of myself as a Cho-abel if you will. I love jewelry that is effortlessly chic but I have collections that showcase neons, spikes, and other trendy elements.
Our new collection, Moroccan Summer, is already a favorite among our clients and merchandisers (and it just launched)! Between the colors, patterns, and textures, it is perfect for the Summer season. There are great combinations of fuchsia, turquoise, gold, and blue tones. Also featured in this collection…tassels! Tassels are going to be a big trend. With most of the pieces featuring tassels, they are removable for style longevity.
Here are my favorite pieces from the Moroccan Summer collection:

This Spring has been crazy (or as the kids are calling it, cray-cray). We have purchased our first home. That experience within itself was a whirlwind. We have been looking since last winter and nothing really struck us. Houses that we did like sold the same day and many times before we could even look at them! When our home came on the market, I called my husband to go look at it ASAP. He called and loved it so I knew we would have to make a move and quick. Without even looking at it and putting complete trust in my husband’s judgment, we put an offer in.
Now call me insane for buying a home without looking at it but my husband is pickier than me and we had looked at so many homes, he knew my must-haves (read walk-in closet). Then there is always the fact that if I ended up hating it, he would hear about it. Our offer was accepted that night and we got lucky because there were numerous viewings that same day and multiple offers. (We had an amazing realtor that I give all the credit to…Ellen Murphy. Look her up if you are in the KC area because she is the bee’s knees.)
We did a viewing the next day and guess what? I loved it! Thank goodness! Over the next weeks we did the usual paperwork, thousands of emails, etc. We got our keys the beginning of April and are loving being homeowners. I can’t wait to show you the updates that we have been doing. I have a little more styling on the hall/guest bathroom then that will be up on the blog.
Along with the guest bathroom, there will be a kitchen remodel, master bed and bath redo, and guest bedroom. (Nursery will be included at an unknown time.) I have also taken on a new venture that I am exciting to include on the blog. I am officially a merchandiser for the Chloe + Isabel jewelry line. More on that later this week though!
I hope everyone has a great week and I’m so excited to share all of the great new things with you!
I am a Midwest girl, born and raised. I love Kansas City because, as everyone says, it’s a small town feel with a big city vibe. Small enough where you can be anywhere within 20 minutes but big enough where everyone isn’t all up your business. I could see myself moving up in city size as I am in love with New York. This will not happen due to the high price tag that comes with one living in the Big Apple.
One of my favorite shops is Burke Decor. I’ve long been a fan because they carry such a wide variety of home decor. Everything from bed linens to lighting can be found in one spot which is always nice when shopping for clients. Another great feature, Burke Decor sells modern, traditional, and eclectic styles. Brands such a Currey & Company and Jonathan Adler are brought together on one site. These are some of my favorite pieces from their shop but definitely check out all of their offerings! Purple! Well, “Exclusive Plum” and “Radiant Orchid” to be exact. Both Pantone and Sherwin Williams has selected shades of purple to be their colors of 2014. In interiors, Pantone suggests combining their Radiant Orchid (think lavender) color with greens, turquoises, and yellows while Sherwin Williams suggests coppers, golds, and grays. I love SW’s Exclusive Plum for interiors because it a grown-up andsophisticated spin on purple. It combines a gray undertone that created a darker, moodier shade. I envision this color for your home office, entry, or dining areas.
Chevrons are a trend that I feel has kind of come and gone. You’ve seen it on everything from rugs to pillows to furniture. I must say that I do love Crane & Canopy’s new take on the chevron pattern. Their latest line of bedding, called the Addison, is right up my alley. It’s a little more modern and abstract, not so excepted.
What do you think? Are you a fan of chevrons or have you moved on?
After viewing their S/S 2014 line, I’m even more in love with Ted Baker. Breezy fabrics are met with bold colors and pops of neon. White gets dressed up with embellished necklines. Pastels and florals pair perfectly with structured, clean silhouettes. Is it Spring yet?! While we all wait for winter’s chill to pass, I’ve pulled styles to get you through from Ted Baker’s current line-up of fabulous.
Every now and then, I feel a little girly. Typically I stick to the neutrals: blacks, grays, creams, whites…you get the idea. Pair these neutrals with some pinks, feathers, and sparkle and you have feminine looks without going over the top. These are some great ways to add delicate details into your style.
